Dot Points

Instead of a full post, I'll make this one a collection of brief thoughts I've had rattling around in my head.

  • I don't know how much Building the Monolith is doing for my strength, but I certainly feel like I've gained muscle.
  • Eggs are wonderful.

Pfft. Like I need 8 reasons.
  • The more muscle I build, the worse hot weather gets.
  • I don't get why some people care about the way other people lift. If someone is experiencing success training the "wrong" way, is it still wrong?
  • The more research I do on nutrition/training, the less I care about optimising either of them.
  • To expand on the above, my diet philosophy is now pretty much "Eat like an adult".
  • I always enjoy conditioning workouts, but still tend to put them off if I don't force myself. I have no idea why this is the case.
  • I am getting quite bored of sets of five reps.
  • If Rogue started selling raw sewerage with the Rogue logo on it, I imagine I would still be interested in buying it.
  • I don't think I've ever regretted purchasing any piece of lifting equipment, so I shouldn't be too worried about buyer's remorse.
  • My best purchase would have to be my custom-made axle, though. Either that or the Rogue Safety Squat Bar.
  • When I have more space, I wouldn't be surprised if I end up with a full-on barbell collection.
  • I think I need help.
  • Missing a rep on overhead presses has made me determined to hit all the reps with the same/heavier weight by the end of the year. I suppose this is a good mindset to have.
  • I think I've finally figured out how to do dips without collarbone pain.
  • On the subject of dips, I think I will continue doing at least 100 of them per week.
  • Same with high-volume pull-ups (maybe a session with 100+ bodyweight pull-ups, and another with 25-50 weighted).
  • Overdoing upper back work is like overeating leafy green vegetables. Technically possible, but no-one ever really does it.
  • I've never seen anyone with over-developed rear deltoids.
  • Lifting has done more for my knowledge of anatomy/physiology than formal education ever did. I could never remember which part of the body the deltoids, rhomboids etc. were until I started lifting.
  • When I next do a cut, I will take a similar approach to my last one in terms of training. Keeping the effort extreme seemed to help with retaining strength.
  • I really love lifting.
  • The more I eat vegetables, the nicer they taste.
  • I wonder if the inverse holds true; would fast food taste terrible to me now?
  • I honestly have no idea how some people can claim not to know what "healthy eating" is. Like, didn't everyone's parents tell them to eat up their vegetables?
  • The popularity of various fad diets should be enough to answer the previous question, to be honest.
  • Most of the time, I laugh at people who claim they "can't gain weight", but I seem to struggle to get any heavier whenever I get above 80kg, so I'm beginning to understand.
  • Although, I'm still sure I could easily gain more weight by eating a whole load of junk. Would be 90+% fat though, so I have no desire to do so.
  • I intend to keep bulking until I reach at least 85kg, which should mean I look a decent amount bigger/stronger.
  • My supplies of supplements are running low, and I honestly have no desire to re-stock them.
  • What can $100 of powders give me that $100 of food couldn't do better?
  • $100 is a lot of eggs, after all.
  • I think the best ab workout would be to constantly inhale pepper, and sneeze for 15 minutes straight.
The end
